On Saturday, February 28, 2026, South Shore Charter School proudly made history as our Robotics scholars stepped onto the competition floor at the FIRST LEGO League Festival at Mineola High School. The energy was electrifying, and excitement filled the air as proud families, teachers, and supporters watched our young innovators in absolute wonder.
Our scholars didn’t just participate; they embodied the core values that define our school community. By simply being G.R.E.A.T. (Grit, Resilience, Excellence, Accountability and Tenacity). Our scholars bravely demonstrated what it means to rise to every challenge with heart and determination.
Their commitment shone brightly as our Tenacity Tech Force and Gritty Gearworks earned both the Team Model Award and the Team Poster Award. These achievements reflect months of preparation, teamwork, creative problem‑solving, and a spirit of perseverance nurtured under the inspiring guidance of Ms. Shani, our dedicated Engineering teacher. Her leadership has cultivated curiosity, skill, and confidence in our scholars throughout the year, preparing them for this incredible moment.
Today, we celebrate and applaud our third‑grade scholars and Ms. Shani for this outstanding accomplishment. The road ahead is filled with promise, and together we embrace the challenge to explore, innovate, and master every opportunity that comes our way.
We also honor the visionary leadership of our Executive Director, Mr. Dermoth Mattison, whose commitment to expanding possibilities has paved the way for experiences many families never imagined. This is because at South Shore Charter School, our culture is rooted in family therefore we extend heartfelt gratitude to our parents, whose unwavering investment in their children’s futures is interwoven into our continued success. South Shore Charter School’s future is bright, as our scholars defy the odds and continuously soar.
