REPORTS TO: Principal

START DATE: 2026-27 School Year

HOURS: 7:15am- 4:15pm + some out of school time responsibilities

COMPENSATION: Our salary range for teachers is $60,500-75,000 (Please note that salaries are determined based on credentials and years of experience)

RETIREMENT PLAN: New York State Teacher Retirement Pension Plan (NYSTRS) offered to all employees.

SUMMMER INSTITUTE: All newly hired teachers are required to attend our mandatory Professional Development training (August 12th – August 28th) (*Mon-Fri: 8am-4pm)

Position Overview

South Shore Charter School is seeking passionate and dedicated Elementary Special Education Teachers for the 2026-27 school year. Successful candidates will be committed to academic excellence, inclusive practices, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction and support student achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and ensure IEP compliance.
  • Use student data to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Build a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Partner with families through consistent communication and engagement.
  • Participate in coaching, professional development, and collaborative planning.
  • Support school-wide initiatives, student recruitment, and daily school operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
  • New York State Teaching Certification.
  • New York State Students with Disabilities Certification.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and using data-driven instructional practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and student success.
