Visiting International Teachers Program

South Shore Charter School proudly welcomes certified educators from around the world to join our community as Visiting International Teachers for up to five years. Through this program, international teachers bring their skills, creativity, and culture into our classrooms, broadening our students’ perspectives and enriching our school community. Our visiting teachers serve in a variety of subjects and grade levels, from Kindergarten through grade four, including Math, Science, English, Spanish, and English as a Second Language (ESL). Each visiting teacher is paired with a supportive mentor teacher and a dedicated school team to ensure a smooth transition to teaching and living in the U.S. At South Shore Charter School, we value global perspectives, cultural exchange, and professional growth, making this a life-changing experience for both educators and students.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Visiting International Teachers program, applicants must:

  • Meet the qualifications for teaching in primary or secondary schools in their country of nationality or last legal residence.
  • Be currently employed as a teacher in their home country (or have completed an advanced degree within the past 12 months and possess at least two years of full-time teaching experience in the past eight years).
  • Hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or in the subject area they wish to teach.
  • Have a minimum of two years (24 months) of full-time teaching or related professional experience.
  • Possess strong English-language proficiency.
  • Be of good reputation and character.
  • Be prepared to teach full-time in an accredited U.S. charter school.
